You’ve probably known me by now to test products first before sharing about it on my social pages. And trust me when I say I only share honest reviews and opinions based on my personal experiences.
So the rainy days are here and what is more frustrating to a home-maker than a not so fabulously smelling newly washed clothes? A common dilemma in the rainy season is being unable to hang clothes in the sun for drying. We invest so much time washing our clothes and they’ll just go stinky after waiting for them to dry? That’s really annoying!
Have you noticed that drying indoors is becoming a norm? According to latest data, 96% of the Philippines have experienced drying clothes indoors more and more. 21% has no drying area (condo-living is being more and more popular), 30% worry that the clothes might get wet when left outside, 21% wash at night so there’s no sun to dry, 17% do not want clothes to get dusty or polluted. And of course, people would dry their clothes indoors during rains.
After hanging your clothes for a long time, you would think that all water has evaporated and the cloth is dried. But, the water actually remains in the capillary of the fibers which in turn becomes a source of the bad odor.
The science of drying essentially needs:
1. The right temperature
When the clothes end up in an area with little air and space to dry, it causes moisture to get trapped and accumulate. Damp conditions create the ultimate breeding ground for bacteria on clothes. Leading to that unpleasant and notorious kulob smell!
Two of the best solutions: 1.) Invest in a good dryer, 2.) Use a fabric conditioner.
Using fabric conditioner as the last step of washing is a good way to combat kulob problems. Fabric conditioner helps soften and improve the texture of clothing, while also keeping them smelling great even through the rain. On top of that, some fabric conditioners also boast anti-bacterial properties.
Speaking of anti-bacterial, this new product of Downy which I saw Vice Ganda promoted on Showtime has 20x Antibac Power!
DOWNY EXPERT KONTRA KULOB is especially made to address germs present when drying indoors. This makes it Downy’s Best Bet against Kulob odor, para parang pinatuyo sa araw ang damit!
And the fear of having kulob-smelling clothes this rainy season made me really wanna try this! Naku, ayaw na ayaw ni daddy Jaze ng amoy kulob na damit! Parang naririnig ko na naman siya saying, “Nalabhan na ba ‘to? Bakit ganito ang amoy? Nakakahilo!” Hahaha!
My daughter Amaria and I made a simple stress test to see if Downy Expert Kontra Kulob really works.
Product test: We put Amaria’s dress in the containers. One using only unbranded detergent vs one using detergent and Downy Expert Kontra Kulob.
The dresses are of same brand and cloth quality. Locked them in for about 20 hours without air to represent the environment of hanging clothes indoors without any air or sunlight.
Grabe! Amoy kulob talaga! I suddenly remember the smell of my high school uniform na nilabahan ko sa gabi and di masyadong natuyo the next day pero walang choice but to wear it! Gosh!
Surprisingly, there’s not even a hint of amoy kulob on the dress with Downy Kontra Kulob! It smells really good especially for something wet sealed in a container!
Bilib na ako dun pa lang. #KabogAngKulob
That’s how the 20x Antibac Power works!
So, my verdict? Downy Expert Kontra Kulob definitely works! I highly recommend you try and test it too!
You can watch our mini experiment video here:
DOWNY is said to protect fabric by smoothening and strengthening fibres. It reduces the friction between fibre, limiting fuzz and fading. Aside from this, Downy also provides long-lasting freshness that can delight your senses and give you the confidence to seize the day.
If my test doesn’t convince you enough, I encourage you to do try it for yourself. I just did hang our newly washed clothes indoors yesterday because it started raining again. And I’ve totally experienced the real “parang pinatuyo sa araw” feel on our clothes kahit sa loob ako nagsampay! #KabogAngKulob talaga! Try using Downy Kontra Kulob and drying your clothes indoors too and you will believe me!
Kulob-smelling clothes is something we should not tolerate. It’s not okay and we shouldn’t just live with it. How lucky are we in this generation that a world-trusted brand such as Downy came up with an advance technology on laundry product like this so we can finally put an end to amoy kulob clothes- rain or shine!
