There’s no question about the importance of learning and education for kids. Studies show that what children learn (and how they learn it) in their first few years of life can have long-lasting effects on their success and health as children, teens, and adults.

As a mother of two young girls, education and learning are incredibly important to me. I understand that a proper education can pave the way for their future and prepare them for the challenges of life. Providing a strong foundation of education and learning is important for children to develop critical thinking skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. Their education will have a huge and direct impact on their success. That’s why I am so grateful to my husband who also shares with me this belief and has invested in a nice school for our children.

The times are changing

In today’s generation, it is important that we recognize the value of education. Technology provides us with countless opportunities to learn and grow, but it is important to remember that face-to-face interaction is equally vital to a child’s development. Encouraging a love of learning in children starts with creating a positive and engaging environment.

As parents, we can provide our children with access to educational resources and tools, such as books, educational apps, and interactive games. It is also important to set aside time for learning and make it a part of our daily routine.

Since we’re moving to another level after the pandemic, transitioning from online to face-to-face learning can be challenging. Let’s try our best to make the process smoother, especially for our kids. It is important to communicate with our children and prepare them for the changes in routine and environment. We can also involve them in the process and make it a collaborative effort. For example, we can ask them about their concerns and fears, and address them in a positive and reassuring way.

Here are some tips we can support and encourage our kids’ learning:

1. Make learning fun

Trust me, kids will be more willing to participate and it helps to retain the information better if the learning is engaging and fun.

2. Value your child’s questions.

They usually wanna know how the world works. Enjoy discussing the questions your child asks. A curious child has the eagerness to explore and figure things out.

3. Explore and find the answers together.

Of course, we don’t necessarily have to be our kids’ Google, right? Responding with β€œWhat do you think?” can stimulate more thought and additional questions. It would be fun to explore the answers together but also give them time and space to explore. Invite curiosity.

4. Learn from mistakes together.

If something throughout your learning activity goes wrong, take advantage and investigate with your child to see what went wrong. A mistake can lead to all kinds of possibilities and it provides opportunities for your child to refine his/her ideas and understanding.

5. Make good use of your electronic devices.

Gadgets are not only used for games or fun activities. You can take lovely photos of a butterfly, record cricket sounds, or use an app to learn more about a creature or a phenomenon.

Education and learning are essential to a child’s growth and development. As parents, it is our responsibility to provide our children with the necessary tools and resources to support their learning. Let us encourage a love of learning that will last a lifetime. By creating a positive and engaging learning environment, and involving our children in the process of transitioning from online to face-to-face learning, we can help them develop the skills they need to succeed in the modern world.
