Planning an international trip with your baby? I hope this blog could help you!

First out of the country trip with our little girl is on plot so we applied for her passport the earliest possible to avoid any problem. I was honestly one of the many Filipinos who book travel tickets before applying for a passport (It was on sale! Who could resist that?). But as per DFA, this style, of course, is not advisable. 😀

The last page! It’s so cute! 😀

NOTE THAT:

  • Transcribed Birth Certificate from the LCR is required when entries in PSA Birth Certificate are blurred or unreadable.
  • Report of Birth duly authenticated by PSA is required if minor was born abroad.

REMINDERS!

  • Ensure that baby has a good amount of sleep or has been fed before her photo is taken so she wouldn’t get cranky and would smile on her photo
  • Baby should wear a descent top, preferably collared with bright color. No sleeveless!
  • Wear descent clothes yourself- no sando/slippers or else you wouldn’t be allowed to go inside 😀 (Daddy Jaze missed all the application fun for he was wearing shorts! Hahaha!)
  • Bring a black pen

Here are some questions some first time moms have asked me:

1. How much?
Regular Processing (15 working days): P950

Rush Processing (7 working days): P1,200

2. Do you need to schedule an appointment online?
No. Infants up to 18 months do not need to schedule an appointment. You could just walk-in.

3. Can both parents accompany the infant during application?
Yup!

4. Do I need to bring a passport size photo of my baby?
Not anymore. They will be taking your baby’s photo there.

5. Can I use the certificate from the hospital? I need to apply for my baby’s passport asap!
Unfortunately, no. You would really be needing one that is from or duly authenticated by the PSA. If you let the hospitals do the work for you, it normally takes about 6 months for you to get your baby’s birth certificate. (Though JDMH processed Ysha’s in less than 2 months). But if you’d need it way earlier, tell them you will do it on your own. And then personally process it with both the City Hall and the PSA.

6. Could they ship the passport to me?
Yes. After all the process, you will be directed to the LBC section where you will write your shipping details and pay a shipping fee of P150.

7. How long will it take to receive the passport?
We applied for Ysha’s passport on March 31 (regular processing) and we received it on May 4. Not bad!

8. Is the expiration also 5 years?
Yes, just like for adults.

UPDATE: The validity of adults’ passport is now 10 years!

9. Can you walk-in and apply at any DFA Satellite Office?
Yup! Our babies are very special!

My little traveler. <3

We applied for Ysha’s Philippine Passport at DFA La Union (pasyal na din sa Baguio after :D). The process was very smooth, it didn’t even take us more than 20 minutes! Kudos to DFA for making the process easier for babies & oldies!

Excited for our next fly!

I do not work for the DFA nor PSA, and some of these details may change. So you may checkout DFA for updated requirements and all. Hope I have helped you mommas in some kind of way. Happy trip with your little ones!

10 Comments on Philippine Passport Application For Baby Made Easy!

  1. Hi Nish. Thank God for this post of yours. We are actually planning to get a passport for our two daughters and since my youngest is just 9 mos, I’ve been wondering if the same requirements apply. This post is just in time. 🙂 But do you have any idea if the price is now twice the original since the validity is now extended to 10 years?

  2. Hello, How will you signed the babies/child passport? If they are 9 below? Are we the one to signed it?
