As moms, we have taken it to ourselves to help our kids form good brushing habits that they will carry until adulthood. However, it is a constant struggle for us to make brushing fun for kids. Let’s admit it – most of us see it as a chore in addition to our never-ending list of things-to-do for our children!
Worry no more! Here are four fail-proof ways to help your child see brushing their teeth as a fun and enjoyable activity.
Treat It Like A Game
Kids will be kids, and kids do what they do best – they enjoy playing games. To make brushing enjoyable for your child, treat it like a game where your child will feel like a winner afterward. Make it more entertaining and try to incorporate some songs (ours is Brush Your Teeth Everyday by Dave and Ava in Youtube!) and you may even add a special dance whenever you have to help brush your child’s teeth. It will also eventually become your special bonding activity as a mother and child! Works for me and Amaria!
Have A Routine
Just as having a daily routine is important for adults, keeping a daily schedule is also important for your child. Our children work around their schedules. Notice how your child wakes up around the same time each day? Kids get less anxious when they know what to expect and what they will be doing for the day. Avoid the tantrums by incorporating regular brushing into your kid’s daily routine and stick to that schedule. In our case, we normally schedule brushing after taking a bath. Do it daily and you may notice your kid even taking out the toothbrush himself/herself!
Model Good Behavior
Children tend to copy what the adults do, including what you say as well as how you brush your teeth. You may even see your child intently looking at you whenever you brush your teeth! In their minds, they are already processing that information and storing it for future reference. Whenever you brush your teeth, always mention that you are “brushing your teeth”. Your kid will surely remember it.
Use A Kiddie Toothpaste
Remember the time when you will look forward to brushing your teeth as a child because you already anticipate the tutti frutti-like explosion of flavors in your mouth? That’s the difference of kiddie toothpaste from your regular adult toothpaste.
Why use a kiddie toothpaste? Kiddie toothpaste is specifically formulated to meet your kid’s needs, without the menthol-like taste (Amaria calls it spicy) you also probably disliked as a child. Besides, kiddie toothpaste has the right amount of fluoride that will protect your child’s teeth from dental caries and tooth decay.
We’ve been enjoying and loving toothbrush time with Hapee Kiddie Toothpaste! It has a range of different delicious flavors and exciting kid-popular characters that the children will really love. Amaria’s special favorite is the Elsa & Anna of Disney’s FROZEN design in Strawberry flavor.
Choosing the right and the best kiddie toothpaste is also a special factor in making brush time more fun and exciting for our kids! So #MakeBrushTimeHapeeTime <3

It’s a fact that brushing our children’s teeth is a necessity to avoid having dental-related problems in the future. Don’t you know that the majority of kids 6 years of age already suffer from varying degrees of tooth decay? Establishing good brushing habits early on will help your child maintain good overall dental hygiene they will surely thank you for. Remember to also have regular visits to their dentist as soon as they’re 1 year old! Now, whenever you are having trouble reminding your child to brush their teeth, just remember to use these tips!
