For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him. 1 Samuel 1:27

Oh, how great is this gift of bearing a child? Probably the highlight or supreme essence of being a woman- motherhood. We are gifted with the ability to be able to carry a new being in our belly for 9 months and give birth to new human creature. How amazing is that! It is, without question, one of life’s greatest miracles.

But unfortunately, not all women are able to get pregnant right away due to some factors that are affecting their fertility. This right here is a serious, delicate matter. So I wanted to play my simple part on this ‘women issue’ and state a few things that causes infertility among women:

infertility

  1. Age

Experts say that a woman is at her peak of fertility in her 20’s. Most women who try to get pregnant will have no trouble conceiving during this time. However, by the time a woman reaches 30, her fertility starts to decrease. Yes, fertility is ageist.

  • Starting at about age 32, a woman’s chances of conceiving decrease gradually but significantly.
  • From age 35, the fertility decline speeds up.
  • By age 40, fertility has fallen by half.

At 30, the chance of conceiving each month is about 20%. At 40 it’s around 5%. You got it. Age is the most important factor affecting a woman’s chance of having a child.

  1. Lifestyle Choices

Unhealthy food and lifestyle choices can greatly affect fertility. Smoking and drinking alcohol can damage both a man and a woman’s fertility. Aside from that, eating junk foods such as canned processed foods, burgers fries and more can also diminish a person’s fertility. So you better watch out on your diet if you’re planning to have a child this year, ok?

  1. PCOS and Irregular Cycle

A woman with a regular cycle can easily pinpoint her ovulation than those who have irregular cycle. PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome is one of the causes for irregular cycles. And if a woman can’t track when her ovulation, it will be a lot more difficult for her to get pregnant for the same reason. It’s like hitting a bullseye with your eyes closed!

There are things that you can do in order to get pregnant fast. Especially if you are now on your early 30’s and wanting to have a child soon. If you are over 35 or trying for more than 6 months to no avail, I suggest you set an appointment with your doctor for further assistance.

More than anything, prayer is a great instrument to achieving what we want in this life. Family and friends to encourage us through this waiting and praying. And of course, our supportive partner who will be with us through whatever.

I salute all the women who have successfully bear a child, or two, or more! And I am one in prayer with all the women patiently waiting for this gift. Do not lose hope. Do you part and do everything in your power to achieve what you want. And you will, in God’s perfect time. <3

  1. A beautiful, helpful post. I have friends who have been married for a few years now but still haven’t been blessed with a child. Some who don’t mind it, and some who don’t plan on having one.

May all women get the answers they need.

  2. I am going to need a lot of medical intervention when the time comes to have kids. My husband is really sad about this, but this doesn’t necessarily mean I cannot have kids. It’s just going to take a bit more work.
